Pregnancy Fashion for the Holidays – Dressing For Two in Style

The holidays are coming and you might be wondering how to dress for the dressier holiday events that are just around the corner. Thankfully, maternity wear is more stylish than ever, offering plenty of options for you to dress your bump in style at festive gatherings. So how do you do it? Be creative and embrace your belly.

Flaunt Your Bump

There’s nothing more perfect than a LBD (little black dress) this time of year. Mix and match your shrugs, scarves, and jewelry to this simple canvas, and you can wear the same maternity dress over and over without raising a single eyebrow.

Drape a sequined, sparkly, or even faux fur-edged scarf or shawl around your shoulders. Or if you want to show off your belly, wear a shimmery shrug that ends right above your belly. If you want to cover up a bit more, top your outfit with an asymmetrical sweater or long vest in jewel tones like ruby, emerald, or sapphire. Any top with flecks of gold or silver over wide-legged pants in timeless hues of black or navy will have you party-ready.

While you may not want to cover yourself completely in sequins, they’re great as an accent in one area, like a neckline, sleeve or sash. Or try a trapeze dress with a shimmery petticoat underneath that shows out when you take a turn on the dance floor.

Emphasize Your Assets

Empire waistlines, shirring, bows, and ruffles can take the eye off your middle. Look for fun tops in soft velvet or with lace overlays. Why not go for an off-the-shoulder dress or perhaps an open sleeve style for an interesting detail? Try a dress that’s shorter in front and longer, more dramatic in back.

Don’t Forget To Accessorize

Creating the perfect look is all about the accessories. Add a pair of chandelier earrings, an armful of bangles, and a glittery purse; they're all items that will become part of your year-round wardrobe once your baby arrives. A bit of shimmer will get anyone in the party mood.

Don’t Forget Your Feet

Super-cute booties with stretchy pants tucked in and an oversized sweater is all the rage for everyone—yours just happens to complement your bump. How about a pair in an animal print?

When it comes to your feet, comfort is key. Pull your outfit together with a pair of sparkly flats, metallic wedges or tall boots with a pop of color to brighten up a monochromatic outfit.

So whether you are going to your office work party, a gathering with friends, or a holiday gala these styling tips will help you flaunt your fancy and fabulous look and make a grand entrance, belly first.
