Pregnancy Month 4: "I felt a little jab on my rib cage."

Many people consider the second trimester to be the easiest part of pregnancy. The second trimester could also be considered one of the more exciting parts, since your baby bump may begin to show—which is definitely cause for celebration!

Many moms experience feeling their baby move for the first time in the fourth month. California mom, Bailey, had an especially touching story about this milestone: “During the first week of my second trimester, my partner, Eric, was out of town for a week. I was awake in the middle of the night with insomnia and was feeling really lonely. Eric was out of the country and unable to call, and I had yet to feel my baby move, so besides my growing belly I felt very disconnected from my pregnancy." However, Bailey's feeling of loneliness did not last for long: "I sat in bed crying, wishing so badly that I had my baby in my arms and Eric by my side, when I felt two tiny jabs in the lower right side of my abdomen. Then, I felt a little jab on my rib cage. It was like my baby could sense my sadness and wanted to say, 'Hey mama, I'm here.' It was the best night of my pregnancy ... besides the night he was born!”

Food cravings and aversions often happen in the early months of pregnancy. As Chicago mom Jessica tells it, her morning staple became unbearable. “I have a thing about my morning cup of tea. Like, I really need it to get the day started. So, there I was – maybe four months pregnant – and I woke up, showered, got dressed, and headed to the kitchen. All of a sudden I desperately didn't want my tea. So, I burst into tears and sobbed to my husband "I just don't want my TEAAAAAAA." Poor man just stood there and patted my back. Now it's funny, but at the time I legitimately didn't know what to do if I couldn't have tea to start my day!”
