Everything’s coming up lemons with this baby shower theme. Whether you’re welcoming spring or summer with these sweet and sour delights, or bringing some sunshine indoors when the weather outside is frightful, a lemonade-stand shower can be just the ticket.
Decor
Think pink and yellow for a creative color combo. Line the path to your home with helium balloons attached to rocks or golf tees stuck in the ground, or use them to outline your front door for a welcoming entrance.
Once inside, the mood should be summery sweet. Fill tall vases with piles of luscious lemons for an inexpensive but oh-so-impressive centerpiece. Add pops of color around the room with glass jars full of pink and yellow candies and flowers. Even some loose lemons scattered around the table will bring the theme into focus.
Food & Drinks
If you’re creative, set up a real lemonade stand made out of a large cardboard box or some cheap plywood. It’s ok if it looks slightly lopsided like the one from the Peanuts cartoons! Paint a cute sign and you’re all set to serve.
Fill decanters, pitchers or a tapped drink dispenser with pink and yellow lemonade. Or go crazy and try other flavors like blueberry, raspberry and cranberry lemonade. How about a frozen lemonade punch that’s a slushy delight? It will cool off the crowd on a hot summer day. Be sure to have lemon slices near by to add an extra sour squeeze to the sweet stuff. Serve in individual mason jars with festive pink and yellow striped straws.
Put out giant platters of cheese and crackers, fruit salad and shaved parmesan, roasted vegetables and grilled chicken with a lemon balsamic dressing.
Desserts
Use cake plates of different heights filled with all sorts of goodies to tempt everyone for dessert. Cake pops are the perfect bite-size treat. Decorate them with pink and yellow frosting and dip them into coordinated sprinkles or colored sugar. Don’t forget the cupcakes topped with lemon drops, luscious sugar-dusted lemon bars and mini lemon meringue pies.
Games & Goodies
You can even use lemons to play a shower game. Have everyone fill out cards with their guess of how many lemons it takes to reach around mom and her baby bump.
And goodie bags, too, can be filled with all things lemon: lemon-flavored lip balm, lemon bath salts, lemon lotion and plastic baby bottles filled with lemon candies.
